Standard Dwarf Bearded Iris (SDB)
Most plants of standards dwarf bearded iris will have three buds, and their bloom time overlaps and follows on from the miniature dwarf bearded (MDB) iris. They bloom at a height of between 21-40cm (9”-15”), some varieties blooming earlier than others, so SDB’s can give colour in the garden from April through to May.
All the colours exhibited by MDB’s are available in the SDB form, and there are also many different colour patterns. These lovely irises make compact and colourful plants for the front of the border, and like all bearded iris, they like as much sun as they can get, and should be positioned accordingly.
