THE NEW ZEALAND IRIS SOCIETY 2010 NATIONAL CONVENTION

is being held at MASTERTON, NEW ZEALAND from NOVEMBER 12TH----15TH 2010

Planning is well under way for a celebration to mark the 60th anniversary of the New Zealand Iris Society. Our focus is on the contribution that “ Jean Stevens ‘ has given to the society. She is recognized around the world as an outstanding breeder of our favourite flower the Iris.

A Jubilee dinner will be held on Saturday November 13th when one of our guest speakers Peter Berry will enlighten us on the tremendous effort she put into hybridizing over many years.

On Sunday 14th November you will have the opportunity to see the Jean Stevens Irises out in flower in a garden setting. In today’s world we need to look at the good Jean Stevens stock that is already being grown here & appreciate that in many countries in the world that same stock is being used more and more in their hybridizing.

Her legacy to the society is part of the growing future. We do hope to see you at Masterton in November when once again we can enjoy each other’s company and share our garden successes.
