Membership Details(Existing members can renew here )
The British Iris Society was founded in 1922 by iris enthusiasts whose interests were primarily to establish a forum for the exchange of views and knowledge of the genus. It was confined to neither academics nor "experts" , and over the years has attracted lovers of irises who wish to enjoy and share the delights and beauty of these flowers. Most people consider irises only as "flags" which flower for a very short period, but when they have explored the wide range that the genus embraces, and learned that irises can be seen in bloom for up to 8 months of the year in all shapes and sizes, a whole new world of treasures opens up for them. The British Iris Society offers the opportunity to join the Society to everyone who admires irises, wishes to know more about them, and share in the benefits that will enable them to further their interest. Membership runs as the calendar year. New members pay a subscription of £14 (plus £1 each for family members including juniors under the age of 18 at the same address). Members who join between January and July 31 will receive the current Year Book as well as the edition published in December. New members joining the Society from August 1 onwards do not receive the current Year Book, however, their subscription covers the following year, and of course will receive the Year Book in December. Students who can provide evidence that they are on a recognized full-time horticultural course are eligible for full membership (for the duration of their course) at the reduced rate of £7. A saving of £2 on renewal subscriptions is offered to fully paid members who pay before the end of February - the cost is £12.
